The 2011–12 Michigan State Spartans men's basketball team represents Michigan State University in the 2011–12 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. Its head coach is Tom Izzo, who is in his 17th year at Michigan State. The team plays its home games at the Breslin Center in East Lansing, MI, and competes in the Big Ten Conference. The team clinched a share of the 2012 Big Ten Championship on February 26, 2012, and by losing its final regular season game to Ohio State, shared the 2012 Big Ten Regular Season Championship with Ohio State and Michigan, all of which finished the Big Ten season with a 13–5 record. However, the team went on to win the 2012 Big Ten Conference Men's Basketball Tournament and earn a number 1 seed in the West Region of the 2012 NCAA Men's Division I Basketball Tournament, where they beat Long Island in the Second Round and Saint Louis in the Third Round before losing to Louisville in the Sweet Sixteen. == 2011 recruiting class ==
